3D Printers

AIMAC Electronics can help you out with your 3D printer repairs. However, we also recommend annual servicing to reduce the likelihood of problems in the future; resulting in low quality or even print failures!

Did you know your 3D printer requires servicing every 1500 hours?
General maintenance can include:

  • Cleaning: The impact of regular cleaning for the print bed surface, the extruder gears, the nozzle, the axis belt tracks, saves time and wasted filament.
  • Tightening: There’s plenty connected to how loose or tight the axis belts, nozzle and Bowden tube, print bed, frame, among others, are.
  • Bed leveling: It may sound basic, but this can prevent unnecessary damage to the bed and to the nozzle.

Common issues could be blockages, poor adhesion to the bed, and low print quality. Thanks https://all3dp.com/ for the resources!

3D Printer in for repair

We can fix most common 3D printer faults:

  • 3D Printer head clogging, extruder filament jamming, air printing
  • Prints not sticking to the build plate, rafts peeling off.
  • Print too stringy or too many blobs
  • Ripples or cracks on the surface, poor layer adhesion
  • Support material too hard to remove
  • Poor performance on different layer heights or speeds restricting use only on a few settings
  • Very noisy 3D printer with grinding, screeching & rumbling noises while 3D printing
  • Garbled 3D Print, the printer extrudes random plastic out
  • We also offer custom profile generation & advice best print settings for your materials.

Why Service my Printer?

If you’ve noticed your printer doesn’t generate the quality of 3D prints it used to before, it might need a little service.

  • Keeps the 3D printer tidy
  • Maintains  dimensional  accuracy  of  prints
  • Reduces/eliminates parts failure
  • Reduces noise
  • Increases the 3D printer life
  • Keeps firmware up to date

What is a minor 3D printer service?

A minor 3D printer service should be performed every 1500 hours. This involves removing any offcuts of filament to avoid any jamming and cleaning/lubricating the mechanical components.

  1. Clean the printer bed: Remove any excess material or debris from the bed and use isopropyl alcohol or another cleaning solution to remove any sticky residue.
  2. Check the nozzle: Make sure the nozzle is not clogged and clean it if necessary. You can use a nozzle cleaner or run a cleaning filament through the printer to remove any blockages.
  3. Check the belts: Inspect the belts for any signs of wear or damage and replace them if necessary.
  4. Check the bearings: Check the bearings for any signs of wear or damage and lubricate them if necessary.
  5. Check the endstops: Check the endstops for proper operation and adjust if necessary.
  6. Check the motors: Inspect the motors for any signs of wear or damage and replace them if necessary.
  7. Check the power supply: Check the power supply for any signs of wear or damage and replace it if necessary.
  8. Check the electronics: Inspect the electronics for any signs of wear or damage and replace them if necessary.
  9. Check the cables: Inspect the cables for any signs of wear or damage and replace them if necessary.
  10. Check the software: Make sure the software is up to date and configured correctly for your printer.

What is a major 3D printer service?

A major 3D printing service should be performed every 5000 hours to ensure functionality and to avoid any mechanical failures. These take about 3 hours.

  1. Full 3D printer machine clean
  2. Mechanical movement lubrications
  3. Heater block restoration and replacement (if necessary)
  4. Nozzle restoration and replacement (if necessary)
  5. Extruder cold pull to removal all dust and debris
  6. Extruder disassembly, rebuild and full clean
  7. Electrical cable management
  8. Chasis alignment and tightening
  9. Belt re-tensioning
  10. Build platform restoration and re-levelling (full recalibration if using mesh levelling)
  11. Test print to ensure full printer functionality

Note

  • We do not work on low cost kit syle 3D printers such as Creality, Anet, Tevo or XYZ DaVinci etc: Because its often uneconomical for you to get these repaired. XYZ DaVinci 3D Printers are no longer repairable and older davinci 1.0 pro parts are not available, as they are not generic parts.
  • Shipping can sometimes cause calibration and levelling to change due to external forces, despite us doing it here: If that is a concern, please pickup the printer. Otherwise it is usually a very simple procedure to level the 3D printer bed upon receiving it.
  • Some brands do not support external 3D print repair agents and do not supply their genuine parts: If parts needed are generic components such as sd cards/usb drives, wires, connectors etc then we use generic parts sourced from standard electronics suppliers.
  • If you have acquired a part yourself, we can help you with installing it: If you supply us parts, they are not covered by warranty. We also don’t take responsibility for them being compatible or working correctly. We will still do the repair for you but no warranty on parts or labour shall apply.
