Circuit Board Repair
AIMAC Electronics Limited is able to repair some circuit boards depending on whether service data is available, whether parts are available, and if it is economically viable. (Note: We do not repair automotive circuit boards or modules at present.)

Before considering re-plumbing a spa to fit a new controller, ask us if the original board can be repaired. In some cases expensive replacement circuit boards do not need to be purchased since the faulty unit may have a simple, repairable fault since we can do component level repairs on circuit boards.

The cost to repair most circuit boards is around $150.00, we do give estimates before doing any repairs. Depending on the type of circuit board and the work required to evaluate it there is generally an inspection fee payable even if it is deemed to be unrepairable. If an evaluation price is given and you choose not to have the repairs done, an amount will be charged for the bench time spent to come up with the recommended repairs. There is no repair charge if the board cannot be repaired.

Anti-static Precautions
When handling bare circuit boards anti-static precautions should be taken. When removing the board an anti-static wrist strap should be used, or if this is not available, ensure that the equipment is not live and use one hand to earth yourself onto the metal chassis.

The board should then be placed into an anti-static enclosure.
The order of preference for the enclosure would be:
-the original packaging,
-an anti-static shielding or dissipative bag,
-tin foil, or anything made of metal.

—Please do not use any sort of plastic that is not clearly marked as being anti-static. However, plastic can be used outside of the antistatic enclosure but cardboard has a slight advantage in some cases.

Warranty
In most cases we give a three month workshop warranty on our repairs only. If we are unable to do this due to circumstances beyond out control we will notify you prior to billing.

*We may have trouble sourcing parts or are unable to repair (especially if the circuit board has is covered in epoxy): Sauna, Bathtub Controls, Watkins/HotSprings, BlueRidge, or any control manufactured in China.

Note: The two repair requests we receive more then any other is: “no heat and no power”. Many times when we receive these repairs they work fine on our bench, we cannot do a thorough test for “no heat” if we do not receive the heater and pressure switch. Pressure switches are the number one cause for no heat as well as improper voltage to the control box from the house. Please make sure that you have the proper voltage by measuring across the L1 and L2 wires from the house at the same time, measuring from L1 or L2 to ground does not give a proper reading, also make sure all fuses have been checked.

If you are getting any error codes in the topside display, you may want to locate the meaning/s and the steps to remedy at this link Spa Side Error Codes.
